There are a wide variety of enemies in the game, most of which reside in the dungeons.Įach dungeon has its own unique puzzles to solve, some being harder than others and some being incredibly easy. Though it can feel boring and repetitive at first, new moves, abilities and switchable party members are unlocked as you level up and progress through the game which makes for a slightly more enjoyable experience.įrustratingly, party member UI feels a bit off at times, with members running in and getting hurt when they shouldn't do so make sure to carry potions with you at all times just in case. ![]() New townsfolk will sometimes give you side quests to do but they're dull and lack variety, seeing you kill monsters over and over and over again.Ĭombat isn't the most complex and consists of your basic "hack ‘n' slash" style of gameplay. There's also a "synthesis" system which allows you to synthesise better weapons and armour from the items you gather when you need to upgrade, giving you a sense of pride when you're running about wearing gear you made yourself. Items are obtained by either exploring the world, venturing through dungeons or fighting monsters. ![]() You then help shopkeepers replenish their stock by going out into the world and gathering resources for them to craft into products to sell. You upgrade your personal oasis by recruiting new townsfolk who will sometimes set up their own shops and businesses. Instead of assuming the role of a pre-set character, you're given the freedom to create your own, picking gender, skin colour and eye colour which is a welcome change from other Nintendo titles where you play as an established character. It's then up to you to use your powers to grow a brand-new oasis. The story of Ever Oasis seems sweet and simple at first but it soon takes a dark turn, with the desert oasis you live in suddenly being ripped away by an evil force.
